Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh on Tuesday sanctioned Rs 42.50 lakh financial assistance for the Next of Kin (NoK) of Special Police Officers (SPOs) and Rs 20 lakh for NoK of Prosecuting Officer (PO), a police spokesman said this evening.
He said for the Police personnel, SPOs and retired police personnel, Jammu and Kashmir Police organization has started a number of welfare measures by introducing different welfare schemes.
Continuing these welfare efforts and to provide assistance to families in need Singhhas sanctioned special relief of Rs 42.50 lakh in favour of NoKs of nine SPOs who died during their engagement with department.
He said Rs five lakh each has also been sanctioned in favour of NoKs of the nine deceased SPOs Shub Ram, Tara Chand, Mohammad Hussain Bhat, Lal Chand, Ashok Kumar, Sukhvinder Singh, Ali Mohammad, Daljeet Singh and Showkat Ahmad Hakeem who expired due to illness during the course of their engagement under different PHQ orders.
DGP Singh has also sanctioned special welfare relief out of Contributory Police Welfare Fund in favour of legal heirs of the deceased Prosecuting Officer Tahir Imran who expired due to illness while in service.
He said during this year Rs 2.40 crores has been sanctioned in favour of 50 SPOs who sacrificed their lives for the nation or died during their engagement.
